The terms religion and faith are broadly inclusive and interpreted in a variety of ways, making them difficult to clearly define. Generally, religion refers to a system of beliefs, faith, and worship of a supernatural higher power (i.e., God, Allah, the creator). Religion typically involves rituals, practices, and symbols that function to bring the individual closer to that higher power or ultimate truth. Often religion helps situate an individual within a community of other believers (e.g., temple, mosque, church).
