Rupert Murdoch is an Australian-born international media mogul and founder of News Corp. Best known for innovations in tabloid journalism and politicized news, Murdoch has often courted controversy by pushing the boundaries of media regulatory regimes in various countries. Murdoch spent the latter half of the 20th century growing his media empire from a single daily newspaper in Adelaide, Australia into a global multimedia conglomerate with news, publishing, and entertainment properties spanning six continents.

At the height of his power, in the early 21st century, Murdoch’s media holdings reached a larger percentage of the world’s population than any other media conglomerate.
