Fake News

Fake news is typically defined as a deceptive publication presented as if the factual assertions being made are true. According to this definition, fake news means a story or other item created and published with the intent to deceive. Along this same line, fake news includes the republication of deceptive publications, as when a person or group shares an item, or links to a fake news story via social media, without realizing that the publication is false, or without being concerned about its truth or falsity.
