Mark Zuckerberg launched Facebook in February 2004 as a way to connect students at Harvard University. In the year that followed, the social media site expanded across various universities, followed by a high school version that launched in 2005, and finally, going fully public with a single site for anyone over the age of 13 years in the fall of 2006. On Facebook, users create a personal profile consisting of a picture and various “About” sections of information (e.g., employment, school history, places lived).
