Deutsche Welle

Deutsche Welle (DW) is the public international broadcasting service of the Federal Republic of Germany. As such, it has played an important role in the history of European broadcast journalism. DW has headquarters in Bonn and maintains production facilities in Berlin. As an international broadcaster, it is strictly national in background and outlook but transnational in reach and is characterized by the dual function of rendering a service to its home country as well as to audiences in its many target countries. DW produces media content in 30 different languages and, by its own account, reaches a global audience of around 197 million people per week. It is a member of the European Broadcasting Union.
