War Correspondents

War correspondents provide accurate, reliable, and firsthand reports of armed conflicts, military operations and strategies, and the war’s impact on civilian home fronts. These journalists are stationed in conflict zones or distant battlefields and perform a central role in helping the public follow, visualize, and understand past and present conflicts. War reporters access frontlines, cultivate sources, gather a wide range of perspectives (from authorities, noncombatants, and expert observers), and share their news with audiences all over the world. This type of reporting produces live footage, interviews, and close-up pictures of war that are usually outside of the reach of ordinary citizens. The work of war correspondents is both difficult and challenging.
