Sportswriters

Sportswriters are journalists who cover amateur and professional sports. The term originally referred to journalists who work full-time and part-time for daily and weekly newspapers and regularly published sports magazines writing and reporting about sports, but it has been liberalized to refer to all journalists who cover sports, particularly print, online, and broadcast-cable.

Sportswriters are part of a rich history of writing about sports in all forms. Many of the best-known sportswriters start their careers writing about competitions, covering a particular team or sport for a daily newspaper, and then move to column and opinion writing about sport.
