Social justice journalism is a genre of journalism that emphasizes injustices and inequalities in society. Depending on the model of news organizations, social justice journalism might also advocate for social change and justice.

Since the new millennia and around the world, there has been a rise in social movement and protest activity. These movements call attention to social injustices and disparities that exacerbate inequalities around the world.
