Russian Federation

The Russian Federation, commonly referred to as Russia, is a country in Eastern Europe that was the core member of the former Union of Soviet Socialist Republics, also known as the USSR and Soviet Union. It was an ally of the United States and Great Britain during World War II, but its aim of spreading forced socialism put it in opposition to its former allies. It employs propaganda as a governmental tool. It is one of the most dangerous places for journalists to operate. The government has established numerous laws prohibiting freedom of expression.
