Young adults have long sought the opportunity and sense of adventure afforded by studying in another country. Mobility at the university level is significant, with United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization citing more than 4 million students choosing to temporarily relocate outside their home country each year. The vast majority of these individuals are in pursuit of a degree (with more than 800,000, or 20%, coming to the United States), and a smaller yet certainly sizeable number of students choose to study in another country during a portion of their academic experience (including annually more than 280,000 U.S. students).
