Individualized Education Program

An individualized education program (IEP) is a formal agreement regarding the services and supports that a student will receive if he or she is eligible for special education; each IEP is individualized to meet the needs of a student with an identified disability. This entry briefly reviews how students become eligible for special education services and an IEP, each of the components of an IEP that are mandated by federal law, and procedures that follow once an IEP is completed.
