Technology for Individuals With Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities

Depending upon one’s age, one may define technology as the advent of the mimeograph machine or mobile telephone. Millennials (those born between the early 1980s and 2000) may think of the Internet or interactive robots. For the purpose of this entry, technology is defined as a tool, a machine, or a piece of equipment that assists a person with a disability. This entry explores the use and development of such technology, which supports people with disabilities in how they live, play, work, shop, travel, learn, and socialize.
