Online Learning
Online learning can be defined as any instruction or support service that is mediated through digital network-based technologies such as the Internet. Although online learning is most closely associated with higher education, there has been immense growth in online learning across K–12 education settings since the early 2000s. Given that growth, students with disabilities and their families are self-selecting as well as being placed in these learning environments. This entry provides a brief overview of K–12 online learning in practice and discusses emerging considerations.
