Polychronicity is a temporal orientation that reflects the extent to which an individual or a group of individuals prefers and values multitasking. Polychronicity is one of the more prominent measures of one’s time sense, or how one perceives and subsequently prefers to manage time. Polychronicity is considered a continuum, whereby some people may be more polychronic, and thus prefer multitasking, and others may be more monochronic, and thus prefer working on a single task at a time. Monochronic people typically embody a more linear perception of time, whereas polychronic people embody a more cyclical, layered perception of time through which they perceive and complete tasks simultaneously rather than linearly.
