Diagnosis of Communication Disorders

Diagnosis in the field of communication disorders requires that clinicians possess a range of knowledge and skills across their scope of practice, described by the relevant professional body for the specific territory. Although it is not reasonable to expect all clinicians to be experts or equally competent across all nine communication and swallowing service delivery domains encompassed in the scope of practice, it is reasonable to assume that all clinicians can and should do their best to capitalize on their strengths and provide the best services possible to persons with these disorders.
