Coaching

A basic definition of coaching is to train or tutor. This approach to learning is used often in the field of communication disorders to support individuals in need of improvement. Broadly, coaching is used in a number of fields of study, such as psychology, business, finance, and education. It can be used for many purposes, including emotional support, career growth, and interpersonal communication improvement.

The coaching process, in general, takes a person in need of support from where he or she is currently functioning to where he or she wishes to be. Coaches can serve as specialists, support personnel, or as mentors. It should be noted that although coaching and mentoring can co-occur, often, the roles of mentor and coach are differentiated.
