Telepractice may be defined as a method of providing remote service delivery using information and communication technologies to reach people when distance or convenience prevents on-site or face-to-face contact. Service delivery covers a range of habilitation or rehabilitation activities including consultation, evaluation, monitoring, treatment/intervention, education, counseling, and/or follow-up. Technology includes virtually any means of communication whereby clients’/patients’ privacy can be secured. These include telephones (landline and smartphones), two-way video, e-mail, Internet, electronic patient portals, and other wireless tools. The people reached by the clinician delivering the telepractice services may involve past, current, and future clients as well as interprofessional collaboration with these clients’ referral sources and additional service providers (e.g., teachers, physicians, occupational therapists, psychologists, Speech–Language pathologists, and/or audiologists).
