Service Delivery Models

Establishing and adhering to the framework of a service delivery model is crucial to delivering effective evaluations and interventions. In the field of communication sciences and disorders, professionals serve a wide range of individuals across the life span, in developmental and acquired disorders and in a variety of practice settings. Although some frameworks are specific to practice settings, the World Health Organization’s International Classification of Functioning, Disability, and Health provides a broad framework for the management of disease processes (see Figure 1). For the purpose of this entry, service delivery includes the theoretical framework for interventions, practice settings, and levels of care partner involvement, within the constraints of applicable reimbursement structures.
