Fraternity and Sorority Life

Fraternity and sorority life refers to a functional area within divisions of student affairs at many higher education institutions that is dedicated to the advisement of social fraternities and sororities and also refers to an integral part of student life in many higher education institutions. Social fraternities and sororities may be secretive or non-secretive local, regional, and national organizations that have local chapters at colleges and universities. These organizations are primarily social organizations but some are academic, service, or culturally oriented. While the Greek system is most prominent in the United States, fraternities and sororities also exist at higher education institutions elsewhere, including Canada, France, and the Philippines.
