Distributed Leadership

Distributed leadership is best described as a flexible approach to leadership that goes beyond individual leaders in positions of authority to the engagement of many experts in leadership. A distributed leadership approach involves the collaborative engagement of many individuals based on their various expertise, through which collaborative relationships are built. It occurs as a result of an open culture in which participants trust and respect others’ expertise and requires a holistic approach by an organisation in providing processes, support, and resources to enable collaborative relationships to develop.
