Confucius Institutes

Confucius Institutes (CIs) comprise a global network of educational and cultural programs dedicated to the teaching of Chinese language, cultivating Chinese cultural awareness, and facilitating global education. CIs are hosted by 4-year universities, community colleges, public school districts, state departments of education, and cultural organizations. Each CI consists of a partnership between a host educational institution and one or more Chinese universities or educational organizations.

CIs develop international cultural competency and strengthen the world’s understanding of Chinese language and culture through a range of educational programs, including Mandarin classes, scholarships for studying in China, people-to-people exchange trips, standardized language testing (Hanyu Shuiping Kaoshi), and cultural programs.
