National Student Clearinghouse

The National Student Clearinghouse (NSC) is a nonprofit, nongovernmental organization based outside of Washington, DC, that provides “educational reporting, data exchange, verification, and research services” (NSC, n.d.). The clearinghouse has a large individual student tracking database that allows participating educational institutions, individuals, and related organizations to send and receive student data. The clearinghouse has numerous products and services that serve the K–20 to workforce continuum. As of June 2019, the clearinghouse had 3,600 participating colleges and universities representing 99% of students enrolled in public or private institutions in the United States. It also had 12,200 participating high schools which represented 60% of U.S. secondary student enrollment.
