Association for the Study of Higher Education

The Association for the Study of Higher Education (ASHE) is a scholarly society with 2,000 members worldwide who are dedicated to higher education as a focus of scholarly research. Like many other scholarly societies, ASHE is a nonprofit/nongovernmental organization, and it relies on the generosity of its members to function. This generosity is evident through membership dues and conference fees but also in significant volunteer hours spent writing and reviewing conference proposals, presenting research at conferences, and serving on boards and committees. The Association is only as strong as its 2,000 members’ contributions and that has been the case since its founding in 1976 with just a dozen individuals.
