University Rankings

Rankings compare different activities or organisations. They are not only commonly used to compare tourist locations and restaurants but also are applied to hospitals, sports, the health or economic prowess of a nation, and schools and universities. University rankings are popular because they are simple to understand, which is also a main source of criticism. There are global, national, and world region level rankings, each of which may rank higher education institutions at the organisational level, by field of science (natural science, mathematics, engineering, computer science, and social sciences), by discipline or profession (e.g., business, law, medicine, graduate schools), or by other criteria, such as engagement with industry or society, student facilities, safety on campus, or campus life.
