Undergraduate Research

The terms undergraduate research and undergraduate research and creative activity are used to describe an undergraduate student’s in-depth examination of a topic that results in an original or creative contribution to an academic discipline. Undergraduate research experiences (UREs) encompass both research and creative endeavors. UREs are considered high impact learning opportunities due to their intensive, hands-on nature; students who participate in well-structured UREs often gain academic and professional skills that are transferable to settings beyond academia.
