Student Well-Being

College students struggle with a variety of mental health issues including depression, anxiety, and stress. A study that analyzed results of a 2015 survey found that close to one in five college students struggles with thoughts of suicide. The mental health of college students is directly related to student well-being. Students who are happy, healthy, and satisfied with life are considered to possess well-being.

Well-being is a complex term that is difficult to define and includes the intersection of different fields of study. Situated in pleasure and happiness philosophies, subjective well-being and psychological well-being offer ways to assess whether students have realized well-being.
