Student Life and Activities

Even before students arrive on campus or start classes, they are already engulfed in student life. From orientation to registering for classes to picking a residence hall, students have already begun their experience in student life, which can be defined as resources and services an institution provides that support student success and development in higher education. Students, globally, have a wide variety of options when choosing what to get involved with on campus or off campus, and it is up to them to optimize their involvement.

Student life and activities contribute directly to student learning just as academic classes through the use of learning outcomes. This makes the activities that students get involved with on campus invaluable to higher education outcomes (e.g., retention, persistence, graduation).
