Mental Health Personnel

Mental health personnel is an umbrella term used for health-care professionals, practitioners, service providers, and contracted individuals who offer services for the purpose of improving an individual’s mental health. Since the 1990s, a rising number of students come to college with serious mental health concerns. Given the significant burden of mental illness among students, mental health personnel working on college campuses offer a promising venue for prevention and treatment. Within the context of higher education, mental health personnel tend to work in college and university counseling and other health centers and help students work through psychological and emotional issues that may affect their academic success and personal development.
