Social Media and Food

Social media refer to a range of technical applications that allow users to generate, share, comment on, and sometimes modify content. The circulation of user-generated content is a key feature of social media, which also allow consumers to be producers of information. Social media users are therefore sometimes referred to as “prosumers.” Social media utilize both Web-based and mobile technologies, often with one application (e.g., Facebook) available across multiple platforms (on a Mac and personal computer, iPad and iPhone, or Android smartphone and tablet computer).
