Technology Knowledge

Technology knowledge reflects an individual’s awareness of and ability to apply the affordances of technology to solve problems. Given the proliferation of technology throughout many aspects of daily life, the emphasis on the development of technology knowledge has become more pervasive as well. In K–12 settings, opportunities to learn about and apply technology are made available within specialized courses and curricula, as well as integrated across disciplines as an important component of the learning process. The learning framework developed by the Partnership for 21st Century Skills includes a specific focus on technology knowledge in the form of information, technology, and media skills.
