Technologies for Persons with Visual Impairments

Visual impairments include a wide range of disabilities related to sight, or how one uses vision to learn and interact with the world. The term low vision describes students who read print but may depend on optical aides for greater acuity or ease of obtaining information . Functionally blind describes students who do not use their vision for learning. They may perceive light or color and are able to use residual vision—some awareness of an object—to move around in their environment.
