Technologies for Persons with Physical Disabilities

Physical disabilities (PDs) are a wide range of impairments related to movement and strength. Physical disabilities include terms such as orthopedic impairments, severe or multiple disabilities, and other health impairments. Accessible electronic and information technology (EIT), along with assistive technology (AT), can reduce barriers and offer opportunities for students with PDs to benefit from established curricula and to participate in the same classroom activities as their peers.

Assistive technology is defined as any item, equipment, or system used by students with disabilities to perform tasks that would otherwise be difficult or impossible.
