System and Learner Control in Adaptive Systems

An adaptive system refers to a learning environment in which the learner is placed at an appropriate level by the system, which determines the appropriate level based on the learner’s learning performance. More advanced adaptive systems identify the learning style to provide appropriate strategies. In an adaptive system, the system is in control. The adaptive feature of the system is to trace and record each individual learner’s specific learning performance and traits in order to diagnose the learner’s learning deficiencies and identify [Page 692]the most appropriate content and learning methods for the learner at each learning stage.
