ESPN (Entertainment And Sports Programming Network)

ESPN (an abbreviation for Entertainment and Sports Programming Network) is a U.S.-based global cable and satellite television channel. It is owned as a joint venture by The Walt Disney Company, which operates the network and has 80-percent ownership, and Hearst Corporation, which owns the remaining 20 percent. The channel focuses on sports-related programming, including live and recorded events, sports talk shows, and other original programming. As of August 2013, approximately 97,736,000 American households receive ESPN. ESPN broadcasts primarily from studios located in Bristol, Connecticut. The network also operates offices in Miami, Florida; New York City; Seattle, Washington; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Los Angeles, California.
