Cuban Enclave

Miami, Florida, is home to the largest Cuban American community in the United States, and Miami’s Cuban population constitutes one of the nation’s foremost ethnic enclaves. Two-thirds of all Cuban Americans live within the state of Florida (numbering 1.02 million persons), and of this total, more than 856,000 live in Miami-Dade County. Miami has more Latino-owned businesses per capita than any other city in the United States, due in large part to the high portion of Cuban American entrepreneurs within the Magic City. Cuban Americans account for 34 percent of Miami-Dade County’s population, and persons of Cuban heritage make up 60 percent of Miami’s Latino residents.
