A blog (or weblog) is an informational and discussion site that is published on the World Wide Web. The blogosphere hosts an estimated 156 million public blogs, representing virtually every sector of the global economy. Blogs may be personally or professionally edited and are produced by a wide variety of private individuals as well as public institutions. The media, social cause and advocacy groups, political parties and candidates as well as their critics, clubs and societies, colleges and universities, for profits and not-for-profit firms, home-based and small businesses, writers, and journalists are but several of the many possible issuers of the blog post.
