UN Global Compact for Business

The United Nations Global Compact (UNGC) is a United Nations (UN) initiative to encourage businesses worldwide to adopt sustainable and socially responsible policies and to report on their implementation. The UNGC is not a regulatory instrument; rather, it is a voluntary initiative that relies on public accountability, transparency, and disclosure to complement regulation. Under the UNGC, companies come together with UN agencies, labor groups, and civil society, adhering to a framework with 10 principles in the areas of human rights, labor, the environment, and anticorruption.
