Temporary Employment

Temporary employment is a form of work in which an employee works for an employer for a certain period. This can be via a contract direct with an employer or via a temporary work agency, and it can be on a full- or part-time basis. Temporary workers are often referred to as seasonal workers, contract workers, casual workers, precarious workers, and, more commonly, “temps.” Growth in temporary employment in many areas of the world is seen as reflecting a growing demand for flexibility in working patterns not only to suit the business cycle fluctuations experienced by firms but also to suit the work-life balance of workers.
