Medical tourism involves people traveling from their country to another country for the purpose of seeking medical treatment. A major reason for this is the high costs of medical treatment in their home country. As such, people travel to other countries to seek high-quality but lower-cost medical treatment. In other instances, long waiting periods to obtain health care treatment make people seek medical treatment in another country. Traditionally, people have traveled from developing countries to developed countries to seek higher-quality but more expensive medical treatment.
