Little League

Little League baseball and softball (officially Little League International) is the largest youth sports organization in the world. Nearly 2.6 million players from the ages of 4 to 18 compete for nearly 180,000 teams in 79 countries around the globe. The Little League motto is “Courage, Character, Loyalty.” In 1938, Carl Stotz, a resident of Williamsport, Pennsylvania, started experimenting with the idea of an organized baseball league with several neighborhood children, as well as his young nephews. The next year, Stotz founded the first league of three teams, each sponsored by a different business, heralding the birth of Little League Baseball.
