Media: Influence on Crime

Media, as a word, encompasses any number of forms of communication between groups and individuals, including books, newspapers, magazines, pamphlets, radio broadcasts, television broadcasts, and information and discussion posted on the Internet for public consumption and debate. Many forms of media are sponsored in large part by corporations with an interest in selling this information to consumers, either directly or through paid advertisements making the content more affordable to the public. The media exists to spread information and has led to an attachment to information by consumers that allows sponsors of media content to engage more consumers than the sponsors of other content, which often means a leading story in the media will be related to a topic about which many people have an opinion. ...
