Intrafamilial Child Molestation

Sexual offenses such as molestation (i.e., at its core, any sexual abuse of another person but could also include the pestering of someone in an aggressive or ongoing manner) that take place within the family can be quite disturbing and often evoke feelings of disgust. However, when it is acknowledged that one in four girls and one in five boys are sexually abused before the age of 18 years and that most perpetrators of sexual offenses are family members or people close to the family, it should not stand out as rare.
