Feminist Perspectives on Crime

Feminist perspectives on crime consider gender and gender inequality as central components necessary to fully understand patterns of criminal offending, victimization, and interactions with the criminal justice system. A gendered analysis of crime is fundamental to a feminist perspective to understand what behaviors are defined as criminal, why and how women’s criminal behavior is different or similar to that of men, and how society responds to men and women who commit actions deemed as crimes.
