Correctional management can be defined as the leadership and governance of a prison or jail facility. Those who are responsible for the confinement of offenders are charged with operating safe and humane facilities that protect the public, staff, and inmates of the institution. The chief executive officer (CEO), often referred to as the warden or superintendent, and his or her staff are responsible for many varied activities.
