Tools of the Mind is a comprehensive early childhood curriculum for preschool and kindergarten-age children and a professional development program designed to train teachers and administrators in Tools-specific pedagogy. Since its inception in the mid-1990s, Tools of the Mind has been implemented in a variety of early childhood settings including public and private preschools and kindergartens, charter schools, Even Start, and Head Start programs. Demographic composition of children in Tools classrooms is fairly diverse and includes high-poverty schools, ethnic minorities, children with special needs, and dual language learners.
