Staffing with teaching teams in center-based early childhood classrooms and large family child care programs reflects the pedagogical challenges of providing developmentally appropriate and individually responsive programming for diverse groups of children and families as well as compliance with licensing regulations for teacher-child ratios. Not all collections of adults working together, however, constitute a teaching team. A teaching team is a stable group of adults who share goals and responsibilities for the children and families they serve.
