Since 1982, the Ounce of Prevention Fund has been a national leader in improving the quality of early childhood education, which evidence shows increases the likelihood that young children—particularly those born into poverty—will experience positive life outcomes into adulthood.

Rooted in science about brain development, school readiness, the academic achievement gap, and the effects of early life experiences, the Ounce has over time grown its identity as a thought leader in early learning through its programmatic and policy work, research, and professional development.
