Almost 2 million children in the United States have one or both parents serving in the United States Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, Coast Guard, Guard and Reserve, and Joint Services, and receive care in military facilities housing programs for young children (birth to 5), school-agers (5 to 12 years), and teens (13 to 18 years). Others may be cared for in quality family child care homes on or off installations or attend facilities off-post.
