Children’s development and character are primarily due to the influence of the family in which they belong. The family in turn impacts and affects the ways in which a community and society function. Families are the foundation for all cultures around the world. Although families are very diverse, as a unit, they accomplish similar tasks including bearing and rearing children, providing the basic needs of the members in the family, establishing family traditions, and teaching responsibility. Families play a major role in how well children do in school and perform as adults and how they will contribute to society.
