Sesame Street

Sesame Street is the name of a television show for preschoolers, which premiered in the United States in 1969 and is still running today. The program is produced by the nonprofit entity Sesame Workshop (until 2000, it was called the Children’s Television Workshop (CTW)). Sesame Street has been closely associated with the Public Broadcasting Service in the United States, having aired on the PBS network from 1970 until 2016, when it went to the HBO network. The program fast became a worldwide phenomenon. Broadcasters in more than 50 nations had already bought the English-language version just 2 years after its U.S. premiere.
